Klaus is a software engineer with a background in academia. He worked in the state-of-the-art area of High Performance Computing, avoided users as an old school conservative UNIX sysop, took a stint in an IT consultancy shop, wrote a Ph.D. thesis on tape and was involved in the OpenChannel SSD community, and recently, in the proliferation of NVMe Zoned Namespaces. He is involved in the NVMe community as a technical proposal co-author and a co-maintainer of the QEMU emulated NVMe device. As a Staff Software Engineer at Samsung Semiconductor Denmark Research, he is working on NVMe emulation and the NVMe software stack as part of the Global Open-Source Team. Klaus has previously presented on various topics, including NVMe and QEMU, at USENIX FAST, SNIA SDC, the Linux Foundation Open Source Summit and several academic conferences.
